Monica Allen Perin...

a painter from her youth, describes her work with watercolor this way;

Watercolor...

simply put, is a painting compound using water-soluble pigments that are either transparent or opaque, applied to paper. Its immediate forerunner was buon fresco: wall-painting using ground pigment suspended in water and painted on fresh, lime plaster.

Watercolor...

has a *delicacy and transparency that makes it the perfect medium for capturing the subtle nuances of light and color in nature. Because the paint is transparent, the white reflective surface of the paper shines through the colors, and gives them their unique luminosity.

Watercolor...

is Monica's passion, less predictable than other painting media but more than compensated for by the range of exciting and beautiful effects it can create - the 'happy accidents' and element of risk that challenges with every painting. Visit her gallery and share the passion.
